Women gathering

KATHMANDU: The first National Women’s Social Forum (NWSF) kicked off in the
capital on Saturday with the aim of giving voice to the voiceless women from
backward and marginalised communities.

The forum is being organized on the occasion of 99th International Working
Women’s Day which falls on March 8. It will continue for the next three days
accompanied by various programmes .

Talking to the Post, Advocacy Officer and member of coordinating committee,
Roni Pradhan said that the main objective of the forum is to discuss
collectively on multiple issues concerning women and their rights. The forum
will also hold discussions on government policies that excluded women from
decision making levels and seek to find sustainable solutions to it all,
according to her.

“We all have worked separately on various issues concerning women for a long
time. We never sat together and discussed over these multiple issues
seriously and the result is that we have been unable to find proper
solutions to the problems. This forum will help us to redress all that,” she
said.
