Europe's TNCs and its corporate-driven agenda for the global economy are
having devastating impacts on social, human, and environmental rights in the
global South. This seminar will hear from growing grassroots resistance to
these impacts in Latin America, Africa and Asia, and discuss new campaigning
strategies and activities, including bi-regional alliances and the Permanent
Peoples' Tribunal.

The EU Commission and EU governments claim that further trade liberalization

and better jobs in Europe and save the European Social Model. In this

Crossing the experience of different media makers within the European left
and to explore feasible cooperations. Transform! Europe publishes since
last spring a multilingual biannual political journal of about 200 pages. So
far editions in English, German, Greek and French appeared. The Spanish and
the Portuguese edition will follow soon. Next spring we intend also to
experiment with a multilingual internet tool. transform.italia copperates
closely with the openESf.net initiative. Of course we want to present this
specific experiences in the seminar. However our main concern is how we all
could benefit from the different efforts by organising synergies?

The EU is currently negotiating a new climate and energy package, which sets
out its approach to climate change until 2020. This first part of this
seminar will describe critically the EU's proposals, unpicking the jargon of
the 'emissions trading scheme' and 'effort sharing'. An interactive second

improve the EU's approach.

The fifth edition of World Water Forum will be held in Istanbul in March
2009. This forum is illegitimate and it is organized by multinational water
companies. Turkish State wants to use these meetings as a propaganda of
building new big dams. It will be also a step for water privitizations. We
will discuss the global campaign against this illegitimate forum and shape
the alternatives.
