[WSF-Discuss] Decent Work Analysis - and Beyond

Greetings,

I believe its useful to highlight that social scientists, notably the
late Seymour Melman, who wrote about workplace democracy and worker
ownership share a vision of decent work. This is a long and complex
history, of course, but in contemporary times there is Mondragon and the
Argentine Recovered Factories, but as Melman described in _After
Capitalism_ workplace democracy and worker cooperatives are growing in
numbers in the Americas and Europe. Via Campesina advocates the same for
agriculturalists.

The forthcoming book tries to take forward the critique of labourism and recover the progressive core of what I had hoped would be the thrust of 'decent (sic) work'. That is also done in an article on labour recommodification in the global transformation, in a book on Polanyi published a few months ago.
